Install whole house fan system

Action detail image

If a limited amount of cooling is needed and the outside air temp is acceptable, a whole house fan is a very economical solution - low initial expense and low running costs. A whole house fan is typically installed in the ceiling in the middle of the house, and is operated by opening windows and doors and turning on the fan; cool air from outside is drawn into the house and the existing warm air is exhausted up through the roof.

No matter how efficient your heating and cooling equipment is, if your home is not properly sealed and insulated, you may not be as comfortable as you could be, and your heating and cooling systems will have to work harder. Additionally, if you have leaky or poorly insulated ductwork, your home might have humidity problems, excessive dust, or rooms that are never quite comfortable. Improving the building shell and sealing ducts can generally improve your home.
